AUGMENTED REALITY

Augmented reality (AR) can be defined as a technology which overlays virtual objects (augmented components) into the real world. These virtual objects then appear to coexist in the same space as objects in the real world (Azuma et al., 2001).  It is a popular technology that is widely used in educational settings.

First, there will be a session in which the contents of both animal and plant cells will be explained. The parts of each and its functions shall be explained.

We will use the printed templates of the Quiver application, which are formed by squares that will have to be filled in according to the numbers that are in the images and relate them.

Later the children will have to paint the images with waxes for when the camera of the app is put on top and they can be observed.

Once the names and their parts are joined, we will be able to interact with the images in augmented reality.

In the app, there is a light bulb in which we can examine if they have learned the content. Touch each part of the cell and the different names will appear to choose from. Each time apart is illuminated they will have to write its function.

This will be done with the two cells and at the end, it will be put in common and you will see the differences between one and the other.

At the fair, Linda gave us feedback to improve our activity. One of the changes was the evaluation method since we did not specify how to evaluate the students to check that they had learned with this application.

Because of this, we have decided to evaluate them by means of a card in which the parts of the cells and the names of these parts appear and have to relate them. Also in the application itself, there is a light bulb in which once you press the cell comes out and you have to choose the name of the part you have indicated.

Another thing that we have changed is the standards, Linda said that there were so many standards, that we had to focus, so we have reduced it.

The last change was that we had two things to work with the augmented reality, the cells and the earth. That is why we have chosen the cells.
